Abstract
Traditional feedback congestion control is not suitable for high-speed networks due to their highbandwidth-to-delay ratio. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of locally controlling shorttermcongestion for loss-tolerant, but delay-sensitive traffic such as packet voice through selectivediscarding of packets based on the virtual work found by a packet on arrival to a queue (localdeadline). Five models, M=D=1=K, M=M=1=K, bounded system time, bounded waiting time anda discrete-time...Keywords
