Abstract
Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are commonly found in portable equipment. The main criticisms aimed at these displays are their asymmetric angle of view and dull grey appearance, which is particularly acute in low ambient lighting. It has been demonstrated that by the inclusion of a fluorescent dye it is possible to fabricate emissive LCDs with virtually a hemispherical angle of view. Keywords
