Abstract
New advances in molecular biology have prompted reevaluation of traditional concepts in fibrinolysis. Identification of novel cell surface activation receptors as well as a series of plasminogen/apolipoprotein(a) homologues suggests new potential mechanisms for controlled generation of the multifunctional protease plasmin.Keywords
