Abstract
To the Editor: We want to focus attention on the accidental death of an infant at the National Institutes of Health due to the inadvertent administration of 5 per cent sodium chloride.A 20-month-old infant was admitted to the Clinical Center with the diagnosis of congenital adrenal hypoplasia and severe developmental delay. He had been receiving treatment with intramuscular cortisol, 10 mg twice weekly, and desoxycorticosterone pivalate, 1 mg per month.
