Abstract
Experimental evidence is presented to support the proposed difference in electrochemical properties of the β‐ and β′‐palladium‐hydrogen alloys. It is shown that the β‐palladium‐hydrogen electrode is a true equilibrium hydrogen electrode. A consideration of the electrocapillary properties of pure palladium and the α‐palladium alloys in solution provides an explanation of the cessation of spontaneous absorption of hydrogen before complete equilibrium is attained. Keywords
