Abstract
H. veliferus was experimentally transmitted in cattle on 2 occasions by the tick Amblyomma variegatum; transmission was transstadial, from nymph to adult. Theileria mutans and Cowdria ruminantium was transmitted at the same time. H. veliferus infected at least 15% of red cells in a splenectomized steer and 10% in a normal steer. One experiment on transstadial transmission from larva to nymph was unsuccessful.
