Abstract
The results obtained by a routine chemical reaction of 17-hydroxycorticosteroids were compared with those obtained by paper-chromatographic evaluation of blue tetrazolium reacting corticosteroids, which generally represent only 40-50% of the excretion value obtained for 17-hydroxycorticosteroids. Although a discrepancy in results was observed between the two methods, statistical analysis of the author''s results revealed a significant correlation be-tween the results obtained by either method. The index of corticoid secretion by the proved routine reaction was useful for clinical purposes, despite its low specificity.
