Raman scattering study of the D182hD152h structural phase transition in (C2H5NH3)2CdCl4

Abstract
Temperature dependent studies of the low frequency (10–350 cm−1) Raman spectra of (C2H5NH3)2CdCl4 in the orthorhombic D182h and D152h phases have been carried out. Polarization information obtained in various scattering geometric configurations is used to provide tentative assignments for the observed Raman bands. The anomalous features associated with the temperature dependent Rayleigh wing observed in the αxx, αyy, and αxy spectra are also explained.
