Abstract
Gain anisotropy resulting from polarisation holeburning in a saturated reflective erbium-doped fibre amplifier can be suppressed using a Faraday effect mirror as the signal reflector. Complete suppression of 0.28 dB gain anisotropy in an amplifier having 11 dB gain compression was demonstrated. Keywords
