Abstract
The structural model used in an earlier paper for analysis of steady-state mechanics of draw texturing is applied here to the case of process transients. In an earlier report on steady-state operation, expressions for threadline tension and torque were equated for cold zone and hot zone locations. In this treatment of transient operation, their time derivations are equated at hot and cold locations. Time derivatives of local twist (turns) and of local filament mass are also formulated for various threadline zones. A system of seven nonlinear differential equations is developed and solved numerically by digital computer. Values are obtained for time variations of threadline tension, torque, and local twist which follow upon disturbances of spindle speed or entry or exit roller velocity. Experimental values of threadline tension, torque, and twist are reported to be in close agreement with predicted results. The effects of oscillatory disturbances are also considered. Keywords
