Abstract
Replicated and extended findings from previous experiments which have shown improved List 1 (L-1) recall over successive noninformational feedback tests under conditions of retroactive interference. 2 interference paradigms (AB-AC and AB-DC) and 2 methods of successive recall (S-paced and E-paced), were used with 288 undergraduates. Major results were: (a) DC interference led to greater improvements over E-paced recall than AC; (b) the 2 methods of successive recall did not differ significantly in their effects; and (c) with the time required for successive recall taken into account, successive recall prior to an unpaced modified free recall test improved L-1 recall more with DC interference than with AC interference.
