Pair Interaction and Magnetic Relaxation of Yb3+ ion YasO4

Abstract
Using an EFP absorption spectrometer the pair interaction of Yb3+ ions was stukdied in YAsO4 crystals. Also an investigation of the relaxation behaviour was performed concerning with the temperature and angular dependence of hte relaxation times of the isolated ions. The relaxation is partially affected by cross relaxation between the single ions and the Yb3+ ion pairs. The direct process at the lowest temperatures is bottlenecked.
