Abstract
The effect on pulmonary function of surgical decortication was studied in 4 cases of hemothorax and 5 of tuberculous pleural disease. In hemothorax, 3 cases operated upon soon after onset of the conditions regained normal function, and the 4th case, 1 of long duration, showed improvement but not normal restoration. Of the tuberculous cases those without parenchymal disease and of shortest duration had the best results in terms of return of function. Keywords
