Abstract
A new method is presented of calculating digital computer simulations of propagating nerve or cardiac action potentials. The calculation is of the implicit type and is done with the "cable model" approach utilizing either well-known nerve or cardiac membrane physiological models. It does not require large computing resources for long fibers because it utilizes a "retarded potential" approach so that large matrix inversions are avoided and voltage profiles can be calculated with only eight spacesteps at one time. Keywords
