Terrestrially enhanced neutrino oscillations

The effect of Wolfenstein neutrino-oscillation enhancement on atmospheric neutrinos is considered. The effect of these neutrino oscillations on data from proton-decay experiments is discussed. It is found that for Δ$M^2$∼${10}^{\mathrm{-}3}$–${10}^{\mathrm{-}4}$ ${\mathrm{eV}}^2$ and ${\sin }^2$(2theta)≥3×${10}^{\mathrm{-}2}$, ${\nu }_e$⇆${\nu }_{\mu }$ oscillations might be detectable.
