Angiolipomas in Homosexual Men

Abstract
To the Editor: During the past five months we have encountered angiolipomas, an uncommon variant of benign adipose tumors,1 2 3 in seven young homosexual men (Table 1).All the lesions were subcutaneous masses of recent onset, and except in Patient 7, none were painful. Patients 1 and 2 had concomitant diffuse lymphadenopathy. Although the diagnosis of lipoma was entertained before surgery in four of the seven cases (Patients 2, 3, 5, and 6), the masses were generally biopsied because of clinical concern that they might represent reactive lymph nodes, lymphoma, or malignant neoplasms.
