Energy transfer and oxygen quenching in solutions of 2.5-diphenyl oxazole in benzene, toluene, p-xylene and mesitylene

Abstract
The fraction fyx of energy transferred from the solvent to the solute, and the fraction of energy quenched by oxygen, were measured in 10–2 M solutions of 2.5-diphenyl-oxazole in benzene, toluene, p-xylene and mesitylene. The rate parameters for energy transfer and oxygen quenching were determined taking into account energy migration and excimer formation in the solvent.
