Idiopathic Transient Osteoporosis of the Hip

Abstract
Nine adult patients are described whose findings—osteoporosis and pain in the hip, slight limitation of motion with pain, and negative laboratory findings with complete spontaneous recover—constitute the criteria for the disease. The disease lasted two to six months in most (ten months maximum) and biopsy was done in three, with non-contributory findings. One unusual patient had involvement at the knee and another had involvement of the second hip six years after the first.
