Abstract
Triterpenoid compounds from the petroleum ether extracts of M. formosana Masamune (Asclepiadaceae) were examined. The known triterpenoids, .alpha.-amyrin, .alpha.-amyrin acetate, .alpha.-amyrenone, .alpha.-amyrin cinnamate, neoilexonol acetate, lupeol, lupenyl acetate and lupenone were isolated and characterized. In addition to these known compounds, 3 new triterpenoids, one of which was named marsformol, were also isolated. Structures of these 3 new triterpenoids were assigned from chemical and spectral data.
