Abstract
Epidermolysis bullosa is a disease originating at or close to the epidermal-dermal junction. The structural features of this interface are reviewed in detail, with particular emphasis on the basement membrane and associated intracellular and extracellular components that may be involved in the pathogenesis of various forms of epidermolysis bullosa. Keywords
