BPM analysis of Y-branch TE-TM mode splitter in LiNbO 3 by proton-exchange and Ti-diffusion

Abstract
A Y-branch TE-TM mode splitter consisting of a protonexchanged (PE) and a Ti-indiffused (TI) waveguide on z-cut LiNbO3 is analysed by the beam propagation method (BPM). The device was experimentally verified, and TE-TM mode splitting with an extinction ratio of 20dB was obtained.
