Abstract
Immunodiffusion in agarose was used to study precipitin reactions between synthetic polyribonucleotides and human sera. A high incidence of precipitin lines was observed between certain polyribonucleotides and normal human sera. These were due to heat labile serum factors, one of which was related to C1q component of complement. In addition, heat stable serum factors were present in a few systemic lupus erythematosus sera which precipitated with polyribonucleotides. The latter precipitin reactions could be abolished by absorption of sera with heat-denatured single-stranded DNA.Keywords
