Abstract
We report transmission over 107 km of dispersion-shifted fibre at 16 Mbit/s using a subthreshold laser as an edge-emitting LED source, demonstrating the suitability of such a fibre-source combination for low-cost, inherently upgradable telecommunication systems.Keywords
