"Nonmesonic" BoundV-Particle Decay

Abstract
A theoretical treatment is presented of the apparent relative stability of V particles in nuclear matter in terms of the process of bound V-particle nonmesonic decay. Mean lives for nonmesonic decay of V particles imbedded in nuclear fragments such as He, Li,...O, are estimated as ≈1011-1012 sec. A very brief discussion is given of the bearing of such relatively long mean lives on possible mechanisms of V-particle production.
