Abstract
HAE [hereditary angioneurotic edema] is transmitted by an autosomal dominant gene. It is due to a defect in the complement system and is distinct from the other 2 types of angio-edema, i.e., the allergic and idiopathic types. Pathogenesis and treatment are discussed. Two new cases of HAE are reported. In cases with HAE, the family should be investigated for the possibility of HAE and the patient should carry a medical card similar to those carried by hemophilic patients, containing the diagnosis, name of the G.P. [general practitioner] and emergency treatment. This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
