Abstract
We have observed orientational anisotropy of the near-edge absorption fine structure for the and excitations in single crystals of using electron-energy-loss spectroscopy. The absorption results suggest that -derived holes near the Fermi level have symmetry. The edge is weakly anisotropic and consistent with some holes having symmetry.
