Abstract
An analysis is made of the escape of light from within spherically symmetric gravitational masses. It is found that there exist models where a portion of the light emitted inside a star does not escape past the surface; rather, only light within a certain, variable ‘ escape cone ’ leaves the star. This ‘ escape cone ’ does not steadily shrink with decreasing radius of emission, unlike the somewhat analogous cone effect for light in an external spherically symmetric field. Keywords
