Adaptation to cadmium in a sensitive marine pseudomonad

Abstract
Investigations on a cadmium‐sensitive marine bacterium showed an adaptation to this metal up to seven times higher than the minimal inhibitory concentration (10 mg Cd/1), with a high accumulation of cadmium, although minimal bactericide concentration was less than 15 mg Cd/1. Such high amounts of cadmium dissolved in nutritive medium did not provide any resistant mutants.
