Abstract
We describe a unique in situ rotatable electromagnet which utilizes only one set of coils. The magnetic field produced by the electromagnet can be aligned either parallel or perpendicular to the plane of a sample. These two magnetized fields allow one to study the surface magnetic anisotropy of ultrathin ferromagnetic films through the measurement of surface hysteresis loops. Keywords
