Abstract
Using nuclear orientation at 15 mK the magnetic hyperfine field at 54Mn nuclei in dilute solution in HCP Co is measured as +97+or-7 kG. This is in dramatic contrast to the field on Mn in FCC Co of -358 kG (confirmed in this work). The result is discussed in terms of a change of sign of the local moment which, for Mn, halfway through the transition series, is particularly sensitive to the exact electronic structure of the host. Keywords
