Abstract
Data from three- or four-point crosses are given to show the location of four sex-linked recessive lethals of presumed spontaneous origin and designated 11-14 in the tenebrionid flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. 11 is located about 61 units to the right of paddle (pd); 13 about 24 units to the left of pd, between pygmy (py) and divergent elytra (dve); 12 and 14, found in unrelated strains, are probably allelic and 31-33 units to the left of pd, beyond both py and dve. A revised map of the X chromosome showing 10 points and encompassing over 100 units is given. Attention is drawn to an apparent selective fertilization of eggs resulting in a preponderance of zygotes heterozygous for 12 and 13, but no decision is made whether this phenomenon is the result of meiotic drive or the superficially similar phenomena of gametic competition or gametic selection. Keywords
