Abstract
The energy density of the chromoelectric field generated by the static qq¯ pair is computed in the SU(2) lattice gauge theory. The energy density in the central region of the Wilson loop shows significant deviations from the Coulomb behavior and approaches a constant value at =0.8–1.1 fm.
