Abstract
Glyphosate 0.2 kg/ha gave complete control of Orobanche crenata when applied six weeks after sowing to Vicia faba growing in pots. There was no adverse effect on the growth or flowering of the crop. Spraying at four weeks after sowing or repeatedly was not advantageous. Five cultivars of beans responded similarly. Glyphosate also showed promise for the control of O. aegyptiaca in tobacco and tomato. Inoculating bean seed with Rhizobium did not decrease the incidence of Orobanche.
