Abstract
Midodrine is a new .alpha.-sympathicomimetic drug. The effective oral dosage in infancy and childhood is 0.06 mg/kg per dose. Its therapeutic effect in comparison with etilefrin, is shown in 120 children with pneumonia, enteritis and meningitis in a random study. A statistically significant increase in blood pressure and a decrease in heart frequency on the 1st day of treatment was noted. Midodrine is apparently qualified for the treatment of hypotension in infectious diseases.
