Abstract
The skin depth in a plasma, in which a transverse field is embedded, is discussed. It is shown that periodic fields that are independent of the pinch field can be used as boundary conditions for the pinch, instead of the discharge tube. Some applications of magnetic boundary conditions are also discussed. Keywords
