Abstract
The matrix elements of the electron-lattice interaction, for a plate of finite thickness, are calculated using Bethe's (1933) method. These are then used to calculate the energy of the superconducting state as described by Fröhlich (1950). Previous calculations are extended by including terms proportional to the surface area. The technique of replacing sums by integrals with surface dependent densities has been used throughout. Keywords
