Abstract
More than a third of patients undergoing therapy for cancer and 60% to 90% of those with advanced malignancy report significant pain. Effective analgesic therapy is available, yet large segments of this population--in particular, elderly patients in nursing homes, minorities, and women--receive inadequate palliative therapy. Keywords
