Abstract
Visible interference filters were subjected to a large range of thermal conditions during and after manufacture. The positions of the passbands were then monitored at intervals for up to one year. It is suggested that crystal growth in the spacing layer explains most of the passband changes that were observed. Some practical applications of this work are indicated. Keywords
