Abstract
This paper explores whether there is any evidence to suggest that gender differences contribute to problems which couples experience regarding intimacy within their relationship. The areas of sexuality, expression of feelings, decision making and communication styles are examined. Suggestions are made that couples may need to negotiate levels of intimacy which are accepable to each partner. Keywords
