Abstract
The influence of finite spectral slit width on optical rotatory dispersion measurements in the neighborhood of an absorption band is investigated theoretically. The result is a spurious Cotton-effect, the magnitude of which depends on the relative spectral slit width, the maximum absorption coefficient, and the slope of the rotatory power. Formulae and curves for the effect are given. Keywords
