Abstract
A unique aspect of group and individual psychotherapy with elderly residents in a 200-bed proprietary nursing home is the involvement of the interdisciplinary team and the utilization of the therapy group as a tool to improve the total milieu of the setting. Criteria for the selection of participants, the group process, differential uses of group therapy within different parts of the system, training of cotherapists, involvement of paraprofessionals and families, follow-through on treatment by other components of the system, as well as ongoing evaluation and change are all parts of this process. Keywords
