Radiative Capture ofN14onP31

Abstract
The cross section for radiative capture of N14 on P31, P31(N14, γ)Ti45 was measured at 27-MeV incident nitrogen energy, by separating chemically and identifying the radionuclide Ti45. The cross section was found to be 1 μb within the estimated error of about a factor of 2. This result is compared with the prediction of a statistical model and found to be in reasonable agreement with theory.
