Abstract
A tabular summary, with explanatory footnotes, of published records of previous investigations, reveals lack of definite information as to segmental constitution and morphological nature of regenerates at levels from 40/41 anteriorly and 80/81 posteriorly. Author''s results, presented in brief summary only, show: that starvation does not inhibit homomorphic regeneration, nor season, at levels behind 40/41; that there is no zero point posteriorly; that posteriorly, and after removal of three or fewer segments, regeneration is equimeric or hypermeric; that regenerative capacity is bipotential in a region extending from 34/35 to 20/21 where a posterior regenerate may be a head or a tail; that the data of posterior, as well as of anterior, regeneration do not appear to be in accordance with the hypothesis of determination of morphological nature of regenerate by specifically polarized eleocytic aggregates. Keywords
