Photoanodic Dissolution of n ‐ CdS Studied by Rotating Ring‐Disk Electrodes

Abstract
The stability of an electrode toward photoanodic dissolution was studied in an aqueous photoelectrochemical cell using iron(II)‐EDTA complex as a reductant. Of the various experimental variables, the incident light intensity, the redox potential and concentration of the reductant, and supporting electrolyte concentration were found to affect the stability most. Both thermodynamic and kinetic considerations proved to be important in determining stabilities of semiconductor photoelectrode.
