Abstract
Three normal and two hard-of-hearing subjects were studied using an electromagnetic induction system. A magnet attached to the tympanic membrane or ossicles served as transducer and a clinical audiometer with primary induction coil attached to the output was the energy source. The coil was placed on the patient's mastoid. Pure-tone and speech testing were performed in this manner and compared with conventional audiometry. Sound sensations produced by both methods were compared, and no differences in speech intelligibility were noted. Keywords
