Abstract
The experience with 2,145 exposed persons susceptible to tularemia indicated that a useful degree of protection was conferred by annual vaccination. Frequent vaccination of exposed laboratory personnel gave more convincing evidence of a high degree of protection. The vaccine had certain disadvantages but these are partly outweighed by the following practical advantages: ease and safety of subcut. administration without provocation of severe reactions or of sterile abscesses, short administration period, and reliable reproducibility on small scale production. Individuals who were not completely protected experienced significant favorable modifications in the course of disease. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
