Inadvertent Chlorpropamide Hypoglycemia — No Longer Once in a Blue Moon?

Abstract
To the Editor: Until November 1984, Diabinese (Pfizer Laboratories) was the only brand of chlorpropamide marketed in the United States. The highly characteristic pill was easily recognized by patients, pharmacists, and physicians by virtue of its unique half-moon shape and bright blue color. These dramatic properties may also have served to prevent its inadvertent use in nondiabetic patients.
