Abstract
The inverse ratio of blood serum cholesterol and the BMR of primary adult myxedema received confirmation in the 2 cases reported, one with a fasting blood cholesterol of 667 mg.%, with BMR 38% minus; the other with a fasting blood cholesterol of 926 mg.% and a BMR of 35% minus, also complicated by xanthoma tuberosum. Additional data on the functional pathology of xanthoma tuberosum is presented and discussed. The two cases are considered worthy of record because the plasma cholesterol levels were unusually high. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
