Modification of the Neurotoxic Effect of Influenza Virus in Mice by Xerosin

Abstract
Summary: Subcutaneous injections of xerosin in mice previously inoculated intracerebrally with toxic doses of either influenza A or B virus delayed the onset of tonic convulsions induced by twirling the mice. Xerosin did not affect the toxic effect of influenza virus inoculated intravenously. Intracerebral injection of xerosin before, but not after, inoculation of virus by the same route completely prevented convulsions and mortality.
