Abstract
Newly-weaned male rats between 21-36 days of age were given avoidance discrimination training, the negative stimulus being a female rat in heat, the positive stimulus being a mature male rat. Tests for retention showed almost no decrement of the response at ages 120-129 days, as shown by a variety of sexual response measures. While avoidance of female-in-heat was thus confirmed, there was no evidence of substitute homosexual activity.
